In brief. A qualitative study (35 semi-structured interviews with stakeholders and a supplementary survey) examined collaboration in the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Collaboration is hindered by linguistic and cultural misalignment, information hoarding and fragmented decision-making, all intensified by geopolitical instability. According to the findings, coordination systems based on generative AI support real-time data sharing and predictive risk management.

Implications.

  • GenAI can strengthen supply chain resilience when it supports value co-creation among partners.
  • Geopolitical volatility and weak government responses remain barriers.
